4.0 out of 5 stars What I Needed, November 1, 2008

This is what I needed and seems to be good quality. Minus one star because the price is so high.

It was hard to tell from the description (here at Amazon and other web sites) if the connectors on this hose were correct for my needs and how it attaches. I ordered it anyway and luckily it is what I needed to connect a propane tank (the type that is normally used for an outdoor grill) to my 25-year old 2-burner Coleman camp stove. One end of this hose has the same connector you find at the top of the small 16oz Coleman propane cylinders -- so it attaches to the metal tube connector that normally goes between a 16oz cylinder and the stove. The other end of this hose attaches to larger propane tanks like the new one I just bought. I don't know what a 20# tank is, but mine is like 3 gallons in size -- the usual kind that people use for outdoor grills. I found out, however, that it does not fit the quick-release connection that I have on a different propane tank that came... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Well made hose!!, August 15, 2009

This thing is nicely designed and built. Just to emphasize what others have already said - it connects the 20 pound propane tank to the regulator on the stove. *It does not connect directly to the stove - you still need a regulator!* The regulators on the newer stoves are on metal tubes with 45 degree angles, the regulators on the older stoves are on rubber tubes.

It makes so much more sense to use a refillable big propane tank than to dump those little empties in the land fill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Connects perfect to a grill and a 20lb propane tank, October 19, 2010

Bought this for my portable Weber 386002 Q 100 Portable Propane Gas Grill; works perfectly with 20lb propane tanks.

Works like a charm, but CAUTION: If you plan on disconnecting the 20lb tank with the hose, you may receive some propane blow off. THIS IS OK! It is just the build up within the 5 foot hose.

HOW TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE:
Towards (or at) the end of cooking, close the propane nossel to off while keeping the grill turned on high. This will burn off all the leftover propane in the line. I usually turn it off within 3 minutes left of cooking as to not waste it; sometimes it'll continue burning, slower and slower, for 5 minutes after.

I'm more than happy with this stove! I bought it along with a Camp Chef storage bag, a full-size griddle, a griddle storage bag, two flame diffuser and a pair of extension as folding table for the stove. I LOVE everything about the stove, except for the connection of the propane hose to the burner/temp controller knobs. Why? If I leave the propane hose connected to the stove, it would protrude too far out when stored in its dedicated storage bag and may suffer from lots of stress. To prevent the hose from prematurely breaking off, I unscrew it from the stove when I put the stove in its bag for storage and transport. As an engineer, I think it's a design flaw. For this reason alone, I'm giving it a four-star. I've used the 30,000 BTU burner to fry fish in a wok, and it's more than powerful. I can't imagine how hot the 60,000 BTU can be. It must be great for heating a potful of oil for frying a turkey!

UPDATE: We returned the stove because the 30,000 BTU burner... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful for canning, August 20, 2011
This review is from: Camp Chef 2-Burner Stove ( 1 Low-Pressure, 1 High-Pressure) (Sports)
I bought this for canning a little over a year ago now and it is just about one of the best purchases I've ever made. It has extremely sturdy legs so you don't have to worry about 5 gallons (or more) of boiling liquid in a pot on top of it, and the burners put anything you are likely to have on your stovetop to shame. The high-pressure burner is really only useful for boiling water -- the flame spread is small and the thing is like a jet engine. It is slightly adjustable, but it adjusts from somewhere north of "incinerate" to "thermo-nuclear" so it's probably not something you'll be cooking on. But boy does it bring five gallons of water to a boil in a hurry!

The other burner is really nice -- it is on a quite large ring and can be carefully turned down to a tiny flame. And at full blast, it too will boil water quite quickly, certainly compared to your stove.

I should also say that the legs are short enough that it makes moving big, heavy pots full of water... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad propane stove for the price, January 18, 2007

I bought this stove primarily to use for emergencies or when I experience a power outage but I like that I can also use it for camping (note, it is not a backpacking stove, it's too bulky and propane is too heavy for that). I was a bit surprised that the base is a lot larger than it looks in the online picture. This stove can accommodate 12" and even 14" pots and pans. While this may seem like a positive, for me, I wish it was slightly smaller. At least it can be stored in a cupboard vertically.

I also wish the stove came with a carrying pouch or case, but it does not.

The stove performs and functions perfectly well and seems sturdy and well built so all in all for the price, I'm happy with it despite the few negatives I've mentioned. Small propane tanks are cheap and readily available for about $1.50-$2.00 which is a real plus.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Camping Burning For Hiking, June 21, 2008

(VINE VOICE)    (TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)    (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This light, portable Burner sits low and has a full size cooking area, so you can place a metal cup or a 12-inch pot on it. The simple wind block system guarantees that you meal is evenly cooked and you never have an unseen `blowout' of your fuel. The output of gas is easily adjustable with a ribbed knob. Everything is heavy duty embossed steel for really strong and long lasting use, plus the grate is coated with Nickel Chrome which make sit really easy to clean. I purchased this over my "Texsport Single Burner Propane Stove" kit, as that had small rubber base clips which were always falling off in the dirt. Coleman makes the best camping gear and equipment by far.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs a little work, February 22, 2008

Purchased this in place of a larger bulky stove. The unit has sufficent heat and stores nicely.

The two issues I dont like are:
No real control over the burner, setting it to low can be tricky. Coleman needs to redesign the valve
Second is the top grating, better have larger pans or coffe pots. The grating is fair.

I have used thi unit for 4 years now its nice for the size.
